Adrien Rabiot could leave PSG this summer after talks with Manchester United, City, Juventus and Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot could be on the verge of a move to one of Europe’s top clubs this summer. Paris United, via Get French Football, has reported that the player’s mother, Veronique Rabiot has held meetings with Manchester United, Manchester City, Barcelona, and Juventus. Rabiot has played for the Parisien side for eight years and it has been widely reported that he has become disillusioned over his best position.

The 23-year-old has one year remaining on his current contract with the Ligue 1 champions and he seems to be keeping his options open ahead of the new season. Rabiot spent a few months with City when he was 13, which means nothing in all of this being that his representatives have spoken to United, Barcelona, and Juventus also. The player will also hold talks with new PSG manager Thomas Tuchel as the German is expected to build a team around Marco Verratti, despite media reports suggesting otherwise, and Julian Draxler.

The Frenchman has become disgruntled as to the playing position chosen for him by previous managers, with former PSG and now Arsenal manager Unai Emery playing him as a defensive midfielder when Rabiot sees himself as a box-to-box midfielder – something United may or may not be seeking this summer now that Marouane Fellaini has signed a new contract with the Old Trafford club. A move to another club may be what Rabiot needs to do in order to develop into the player many feel he could become.

Rabiot played 50 matches in all competitions for PSG last season, with the club winning a domestic treble. 50 appearances is a good figure for a player as young as him, especially playing for one of the top clubs in his country but if he is playing in a position he does not feel he can showcase his talents, perhaps seeking for a club that will allow him to develop, to his strengths, would be the best option for him. Whether he would get that many games at United would be up for debate, especially at the position he seemingly wants to play.

United currently have Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera, Scott McTominay and new summer signing, Fred. Also, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Andreas Pereira could fortify the midfield this summer, which could rule out another midfielder coming to the club or even getting the playing time he desires. If another player leaves United this summer, a midfielder, it could pave the way for another signing, or a peripheral player such as Fosu-Mensah or Pereira getting more chances.
