Alexis Sanchez nearing closer to Manchester United move completion after immigration office visit in Liverpool

Manchester United supporters are eagerly awaiting the announcement of Alexis Sanchez who is expected to wear the famous number seven shirt at the club after a year of it lying vacant after the departure of Memphis Depay to Lyon last winter. It was Manchester City and Pep Guardiola who were expected to bring the Chilean up north from London this month but United came forth and secured the deal with City backing away from the player a week ago.

There has been much speculation about the fee, the wages, image rights and signing on fees which has set the media into a spin which on the basis would suggest United are ruining football with the financial rewards players can get at the Old Trafford club, which led to the fickle City supporters claiming the player had chosen money over trophies. City are 12 points clear in the Premier League at this moment in time, but they have not actually won anything under the genius of Guardiola, whereas United won two major honours last season.

Sanchez will have chosen the history of success at United and the fact that he will instantly make the team better and play the majority of matches when at City, it would not be so straightforward for him. United are a sleeping giant in world football and despite taking five years to stabilise following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson at the end of the 2012/13 season, the last time the club lifted the Premier League trophy, the club have been much better under the guidance of Jose Mourinho.

Everybody wants to talk about Manchester United again – whether it is being angry about the financial rewards the players can receive, the marketing and advertising or the fact that their disappearance from the top of the league lasted only four seasons – which means it is unlikely they will do a Liverpool and be absent from challenging or winning titles for 27 years. Sanchez will be a player who can bring the greatness back to the number seven shirt, which had not been seen since it was vacated by Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer of 2009.

Sanchez is understood to have passed a medical at United, agreed on terms with the club and was seen heading into an immigration office in Liverpool earlier today with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the player heading to Arsenal as part of the deal, following suit around half an hour later. The official announcement of the first Chilean player to grace the pitch whilst playing for Manchester United may not be far away, whether it is this afternoon, this evening or at some point tomorrow, Alexis Sanchez will soon be a United player, no matter what some whopper on ArsenalFanTV says.

United have a great attacking line, which has worked well at times this season, and during some matches has not worked quite as well. Sanchez usually playing on the left-wing, which is a position help by Anthony Martial at United, with Marcus Rashford rotating. The right-wing is a problem area with Juan Mata, Rashford, Mkhitaryan, Martial and Jesse Lingard all used in that role, none of them cementing it as their place in the team. If Sanchez is played in that role, it could work for United, if not, a player will need to be brought in this summer to fill that void.
