Bruno Fernandes pulled out of friendly match. More rumours or something to suggest transfer getting close

The Bruno Fernandes transfer saga rumbles on for another day. The player travelled to Switzerland at the weekend for their pre-season tour. This was obviously something which caused different rumours from different newspapers with some Manchester United giving up on the prospective transfer this summer.

There is only one newspaper in Portugal still peddling rumour on the saga today and that is Correio da Manhã. They insist in their Tuesday issue that Fernandes will miss Sporting’s first pre-season match, which is due to be played against Rapperswil-Jona on Wednesday because of impending transfer.

Obviously, this is either true information or just more rumours to keep the rumour strong. Over the past few weeks, there has been many claims, which have all come to nothing. This one though, seems very predictable, especially if you want to put something new out there. It was stated but Sport Witness that Sporting manager, Marcel Keizer wants to ensure the player is not injured.

It was also state that United are currently negotiating the sale of Paul Pogba, which is something that was suggested as being one of the reasons behind the delay in the Fernandes transfer. Apparently, it rests on Pogba leaving the club this summer which is something that his agent, Mino Raiola if confident about, which was suggested himself in the media.

It all seems suspicious to me. The fact that players have been linked to United in the past, never actually signing for the club, some of which have come from Portuguese clubs. Fernandes would be a good signing for United, however, he would need to fight for a place in the team as nothing would be guaranteed, especially with the number of players in a similar position at the club during pre-season.

This supposed information from Correio da Manhã could be a load of rubbish. It could also be a piece of key information. Logically speaking, if a player was on the cusp of a transfer, they would be withdrawn from playing any matches which could become problematic for the impending transfer. It is a logical step in a deal, however, we have been days away from completion before and probably will again.
