Confirmed Starting XI: AC Milan v Manchester United – #MUTour2018

Manchester United face AC Milan in their first International Champions Cup match at the Stubhub Center in Carson, California. United have played two matches already this summer, drawing 1-1 against Club America in Phoenix, Arizona which was followed by a 0-0 draw against San Jose Earthquakes in Santa Clara, California.

United manager Jose Mourinho took 13 Academy players on the pre-season tour. Tahith Chong, James Garner, and Mason Greenwood have all made their debuts whilst Angel Gomes, Tim Fosu-Mensah, Axel Tuanzebe and Demetri Mitchell have all had valuable minutes which will help them develop ahead of what could be an important season for them all.

Manchester United:

Grant;

Darmian, Smalling, Bailly, Shaw;

Tuanzebe, McTominay, Herrera;

Mata, A. Pereira, Sanchez

Substitutes:

J. Pereira; Fosu-Mensah, Mitchell, Williams; Hamilton, Garner, Gomes, Bohui, Chong, Greenwood

United and AC Milan have gone head to head ten times competitively with both clubs winning five matches each. The last game between the two sides was played in the UEFA Champions League at Old Trafford more than eight years ago, a 4-0 victory for United, winning the first leg at the San Siro 3-2, an aggregate 7-2 victory.

United will be seeking victory for the first time this summer but will have to do so without Anthony Martial, who left the pre-season tour to fly back for the birth of his child. This is in effect a training match. Results tend not to matter in pre-season. It is all about fitness; building and maintaining it ahead of the new season, which starts in just over two weeks time.
