Confirmed Starting XI: James makes first Premier League start; Martial, Rashford, and Lingard on the attack against Wolves

Manchester United face Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux this evening in their first away match of the 2019/20 Premier League season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping it will be third time lucky to get a positive result at the Molineux after losing twice there last season in both the Premier League and the Emirates FA Cup, just 17 days apart.

After the 4-0 victory over Chelsea last weekend, the clubs supporters will be expecting another good performance. United started the new season in style with Marcus Rashford scoring a brace; one of them from the penalty spot, Anthony Martial opening his account for the season and Daniel James scoring a debut goal.

Manchester United:

De Gea;

Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw;

McTominay, Pogba;

James, Lingard, Rashford;

Martial

Substitutes:

Romero; Young, Tuanzebe; Mata, Pereira, Matic; Greenwood

Wolverhampton Wanderers:

Patricio;

Bennett, Coady, Boly;

Doherty, Dendoncker, Neves, Moutinho, Otto;

Jimenez, Jota

Substitutes:

Ruddy; Vinagre; Neto, Gibbs-White, Saiss, Traore; Cutrone

United has played Wolves 101 times with United winning 48 matches, drawing 17 and losing 36. United played Wolves three times last season, losing twice (both at the Molineux) in the Premier League and the Emirates FA Cup by the same 2-1 scoreline. Solskjaer will be seeking a way to move on from these defeats, starting this evening.

At Old Trafford back in September, it was a 1-1 draw with Fred scoring his first goal for his club in the 11th minute and Joao Moutinho equalising in the 53rd minute. United need to continue their unbeaten run to the season (including pre-season). Solskjaer’s squad is looking good and perhaps frustrating Wolves would be the icing on the cake.

I support Manchester United, the greatest English football team to have ever existed. Bruno Fernandes is the latest in a long line of players with great ability to play for the club. I idolised Bryan Robson, David Beckham, Paul Scholes, and Eric Cantona growing up.
