Confirmed Starting XI: Lindelof and Shaw return; Gomes and Hamilton on the bench

Manchester United face Huddersfield Town for the third time this season in the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup. At the John Smith’s Stadium earlier in the season, Jose Mourinho’s side were beaten 2-1 – the first defeat in the Premier League this season. United will be looking to overcome that defeat by putting themselves into the last eight of the domestic competition this evening. United are looking to bounce back from the 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United in the Premier League last weekend, which had seen a massive overreaction from fans and the media.

Mourinho has confirmed that Paul Pogba will miss the match due to illness, just a day after confirming the Frenchman would be part of the team to travel to Huddersfield. Eric Bailly has boosted his side by returning to full fitness ahead of the match, which will be a welcome inclusion especially as United travel to face Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League next week.

Manchester United:

Young, Lindelof, Smalling, Shaw;

Matic, Carrick, McTominay;

Mata, Lukaku, Sanchez

Pereira; Bailly, Darmian; Lingard, Gomes, Hamilton; Martial

Manchester United and Huddersfield Town have played 47 times in the history of both clubs. The first match was played on the 13th January 1912 – a 3-1 victory for United in the FA Cup. United have won 21 times, drawn 15 times and lost 11 times – the last earlier in the season in this fixture in the Premier League. United beat Huddersfield at the start of the month, a 2-0 victory with Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez scoring the goals. United will need to bounce back from the defeat against Newcastle and overcome Huddersfield in this match to make the last eight of the FA Cup.
