Confirmed Starting XI: Lukaku dropped; Martial and Rashford lead the line? Fred back in the team…

Manchester United will be tasked with returning to winning ways against Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League. On Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League, Juventus were the victors in the group stage clash at the Theatre of Dreams. United were toothless and lacked ambition, urgency and any ability these footballers once had. Jose Mourinho is not getting the best out of his team and the excuses are becoming tiresome.

There have been suggestions in the media that Romelu Lukaku could be dropped for this game, or at least benched. He has failed to score for United in the last eight matches, which has been a major problem for United, However, if this was the case, the options in front of goal could be minimal with Alexis Sanchez ruled out of the match, although he was seen at the Lowry hotel by the media. It could be Jose Mourinho mind games.

Manchester United:

De Gea;

Young, Lindelof, Smalling, Shaw;

Fred, Matic, Pogba;

Mata, Rashford, Martial

Substitutes:

Romero; Rojo, Darmian; Lingard, Herrera; Sanchez, Lukaku

United and Everton have played 199 matches in the history of both clubs. United have won 87, drawn 43, losing 69 times. The first match was played on the 24 September 1892, a 6-0 defeat for Newton Heath. United are unbeaten in the last seven matches, winning five and drawing twice, scoring 14 goals and conceding just three. In this fixture last season, United won the game 4-0 with goals from Antonio Valencia, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Romelu Lukaku, and Anthony Martial.
