Confirmed Starting XI: Martial and Rashford tasked to put Manchester United into the fifth round of the Carabao Cup

Manchester United will face Swansea City in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday evening. It is Jose Mourinho’s first match after the defeat away to Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon, a result United deserved after their poor performance, which was not just against the Premier League new boys, but also against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League and against Liverpool in the Premier League. United will need to find some form and fact if they are to make it into the fifth round of the league cup this week and Swansea City, fresh from their own defeat this weekend, will be seeking to pounce on a hurting Manchester United side.

Manchester United and Swansea City have met competitively 30 times since the 5th September 1931 – in that match, it was United who took the points with a 2-1 victory. In all of the matches played, United have won 14 times, drawn six times and lost ten times. The last defeat to Swansea was on the 30th August 2015, a 2-1 defeat at the Liberty Stadium. Since that match, the two sides have met four times, United winning three and drawing once. United had a seven-match unbeaten run against Swansea with stretched from the 0-0 draw on the 18th December 1982, right to way through to the 4-1 victory on the 17th August 2013. United have a four-match unbeaten streak currently, something which Jose Mourinho will be seeking to extend to five matches with Swansea yet to visit Old Trafford this season.
