Confirmed Starting XI: Mata, Rashford and Sanchez on the attack; Chong and Herrera on the bench against Huddersfield Town

Manchester United face Huddersfield Town this afternoon in their final away match of the Premier League season. United have managed just one win and one draw in their last six matches, losing the other four. Huddersfield has lost their last six matches and risks a ninth successive defeat if the real United turn up, which is a worry.

After Tottenham Hotspur lost to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, United still have a chance to make up some ground, as long as they beat Huddersfield. Chelsea faces Watford at the same time, so if the London club drop points, United could well be in a much better position. Arsenal also face Brighton and Hove Albion later this afternoon, so more dropped points there could be good news for United, however, they should be reliant upon themselves, noth other teams to do them a favour.

Huddersfield has scored just 20 goals this season, one of them an own goal, conceding more (21) in their last six matches. United has scored just three goals in their last six matches, so need to lace up their scoring boots and work hard in each match left to play. Youth might be given a chance with injuries rocking United again.

Manchester United:

De Gea;

Young, Jones, Lindelof, Shaw;

McTominay, Matic, Pogba;

Mata, Rashford, Sanchez

Grant; Smalling, Dalot; Pereira, Fred, Herrera; Chong

Two matches left to play then the season is over for United. Ever since the Paris Saint-Germain victory, the players have not been at their best. The media and pundits who are trying to make a name for themselves have naturally blamed the manager, however, it is the players who are the useless ones. They have scored once in their last four matches, three times in the last six!

Huddersfield Town is a team in poorer form than United at this current time. Eight defeats in a row since their last win, back in February. The club has already been relegated to the Championship but they will need to play for pride if they have any left. Against this United squad though, they will probably play like Barcelona and cause more embarrassment.

Manchester United and Huddersfield Town have played 49 competitive matches. United has won the most matches with 23 victories, drawing 15 and losing 11. United lost this fixture 2-1 last season, only winning at the John Smith’s stadium in the FA Cup. Since the defeat last season, United are unbeaten against Huddersfield in their last three matches.
