There has been quite a bit of talk of Louis Van Gaal as a possible Manchester United manager, even before Tuesday’s sacking. So it was no coincidence that Louis was the bookies clear favourite the instant that Moyes was relieved of his duties. There’s been lots of rumour about meetings with Van Gaal a couple of weeks ago and those in the know believe this could have been the club securing the services of the vastly experienced Dutchman prior to giving David the boot.
Today the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf is reporting that Van Gaal has now agreed with Manchester United’s terms and will take over when he completes his job with Holland in the summer. The paper goes on to say that Van Gaal has been with one of the Glazer brothers, Ed Woodward and a lawyer at a Villa in the Algarve where agreement was reached last night.
It is my understanding that a deal had provisionally been agreed up to three weeks ago when the club and the new boss met. It’s also believed United have already begun working on targets for the Dutch master. He’s certainly not shy about rearranging a club to fit his vision. It’s just fortunate that his vision fits in with that of United’s philosophy of Youth and fast paced attacking football. It’s an almost certainty he’ll have an input onto the running of the academy as well as overhauling the first team and the recruitment and scouting departments.
We’re in for a crazy ride. The Reds are turning Oranje
