Danny Rose will get his Manchester United wish, according to ESPN pundit

Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose will get his Manchester United wish, according to ESPN pundit Alejandro Moreno. Jose Mourinho has been seeking a new left-back to replace the apparently departing Luke Shaw after the Portuguese manager had lost patience with the former Southampton and England defender. Rose, a player who himself had been linked with a move from Spurs in the summer, recovered from injury and commenced his playing career at the club, despite it being sparingly.

Reports have suggested United’s interest in Rose with a £45 million fee touted in some reports, which may be fact or fallacy. Rose was tipped to want to head back North if he left Spurs, which seems to be on the cards. Chelsea have been credited with an interest in the Spurs defender, but it is thought the payer would turn down a move across London for a move to United. It would be a great move for both parties – the player and United, as he is obviously a player Mourinho trusts and he would play effectively at the club. Moreno, speaking on ESPN, said:

“He’s been campaigning for this hasn’t he?

“When he was injured he was very mouthy about it, he kept making noise about it.

“Let’s be honest, Luke Shaw, no. Jose Mourinho doesn’t care much for Luke Shaw does he?

“Ashley Young, as well as he has done, he shouldn’t be your left-back.

“Danny Rose to Manchester United? Yeah.”

Moreno also expects former Spurs winger Gareth Bale to sign for United, which seems unlikely at the present time, especially with the Welsh winger’s injury record, but you never know what a club is planning. Speaking of Bale, Moreno said:

“He’s beginning to run out of options isn’t he.

“Here’s a player so talented, but unable to show it on the field because he’s always injured.

“Once you sort of get on that negative momentum, it’s very difficult to stop.

“Right now it doesn’t feel like there is a way back for him at Real Madrid, and Real Madrid stardom.

“So then you start looking for options. Manchester United would seem to be the obvious choice.”

This is a nice thought, that United could sign both Rose and Bale, which would severely annoy the Spurs faithful, probably a bit more than their fall from grace this season. You would expect a club who challenged for the Premier League title over the last few seasons, to be fired up to do the same again, but a mixture of poor form and injury to player relied on by the club has seen them fail to impress, which is pretty funny from my perspective. Signing Bale and Rose would be just as funny for me as it would be annoying for them.

Whether any of this happens or not will be down to Manchester United, Jose Mourinho, Tottenham Hotspur, Danny Rose, Real Madrid and Gareth Bale, not Alejandro Moreno. The January transfer window could see United make a move for Rose, or another left-back with that role severely needed at the club this season, despite the resurgent form of Ashley Young, who has been playing in that position, or similar, for the past month or so.
