De Gea to help United finally sign Gareth Bale?

Once again the rumours of David De Gea moving back to his native country are rife. These rumours have simply not gone away for some time, but being one of the most gifted goalkeepers on the planet, that’s going to happen. United fans are thanking a higher power for a faulty fax machine while Real Madrid keep adding zeros to the cheque.

Of course, there is never a good time to lose a player as good as De Gea, now may just be the best time in a while.

Last year De Gea was looking at a season of no Champions League football, but not this year. No longer is that a bargaining chip for the Madrid team. Then there is also the fact De Gea is currently contracted to United until 2019. Real Madrid have gone from having all of the power in the negotiations to having very little. Jose Mourinho is renowned for being ruthless in the transfer market, favouring benching his own players sometimes rather than letting them leave for less than he would like. It can be guaranteed this situation will be not different.

All of a sudden Real Madrid have some work to do to sign their star man, and it seems Jose Mourinho is interested in using this to his advantage. With apparent issues with Gareth Bale’s Real Madrid contract, now may just be the time to finally bring him to Old Trafford. After all, anyone could see the appeal. He would be arriving into a team on the rise, a team that would look to him to take them to the next level. He would be the focal point of a very exciting Manchester United team, rather than sitting on the bench and watching a Real Madrid team thrive without him.

United tried and failed horribly in their last attempt to sign Bale. Much to the disappointment of then manager David Moyes who may still be the manager if he had pulled that signing off (maybe). United have lacked a truly incredible winger ever since Ryan Giggs marauded the left-wing. United have missed a winger with such confidence and talent as Ryan Giggs, and the Premier League has missed Gareth Bale’s same attributes. It could be a match made in heaven.

Is this the time to use De Gea’s transfer worth to United’s advantage? Are they finally in the position to dictate the negotiations? Now no one wants De Gea to leave but surely replacing him with someone as explosive as Bale would soften the blow…
