Giggs wanted for permanent role

Late last night a story emerged that warms the heart. The romantic in me loves the idea of Ryan Giggs stood on the touch-line, shirt and tie, club blazer open, hands in pockets. Giving quiet instructions. Not balling. Steering a free-flowing, attacking, spirited Manchester United side to a blazing four or five nil victory. Maybe even over a top four side, remember what that felt like?

Well it seems not only are the fans excited by the prospect of Ryan Giggs, as interim Manchester United manager but the playing staff, the first team squad that Moyes had very clearly lost has finally started to come together now Moyes tenure has come to an abrupt halt. Several first team players, including very one senior player, have made it clear they have a romantic side too, as they are making it known that they are backing Ryan Giggs not only as interim, but the possibility that Giggs could be made the Manchester United manager on a PERMANENT basis.

Giggs has been actively involved with training the first team since Moyes’ appointment, so the players would have more or less known his personality as a member of the coaching staff prior to today, so that makes the talk coming out of today’s more relaxed and upbeat, training session, Ryan’s first as the man planning and leading the session, all the more pleasing to hear as a fan. He clearly has the support of the players. Meaning we should probably expect an unshackled, committed and more importantly attacking display come Saturday as Giggs takes his first game in charge alongside fellow Academy Graduate Nicky Butt and possibly Paul Scholes too.
