Jesse Lingard: Warrington Workhorse

Videos of Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard have surfaced online of him preparing for preseason with workout sessions in the gym. The Warrington-born midfielder is determined to make next season’s campaign his best yet and to impress manager Jose Mourinho. The preseason begins on 8th July before the first game of the tour against LA Galaxy kicking off on 16th July 03:00 BST.

Jesse Lingard is one of the most underrated players in the Premier League, he may not be as most technically gifted as some other attacking players in the league but the determination and desire make him a must have in any squad. He is the Mancunian version of Ji-Sung Park with his energy and fight for the Red Devils.

Lingard loves Wembley and has scored in his last three final appearances there for United. The first came in the FA Cup final when Antonio Valencia crossed the ball in, it was the cleared poorly and Lingard fired the ball into the roof of the net, he lived the dream of every Manchester United fan in that moment. His next Wembley final appearance was in the Community Shield against Leicester City, Lingard picked the ball up went on a run from the halfway line and scored the opener before Zlatan Ibrahimović scored late on to win Jose Mourinho’s first trophy at Old Trafford. Lingard’s third Wembley final appearance was in the EFL Cup final and once again it was the man for the big occasions who turned up and scored again, like the Community Shield it was an Ibrahimović header late on which won it.

When Manchester United offered Lingard a new contract, many people criticised the decision but Jose Mourinho knew he would be worth every penny. Lingard has played many different roles last season for United and is crucial in the big games for Mourinho. Against Chelsea, Manchester United and Jose Mourinho were tactically excellent. Ander Herrera did an excellent man-marking job on Eden Hazard and Matteo Darmian also did one on Pedro Rodriguez. Jesse Lingard was also brilliant, the English man played upfront next to Marcus Rashford and the two of them caused problems for Chelsea’s defence throughout the match. The duo were telepathic with their balls and movement and were linking up well together all afternoon.

In the game against Manchester City, at the Etihad, Marcus Rashford scored after knocking the ball past Argentinian defender Martin Demichelis and slotting past Joe Hart. It was later on in the game where Rashford knocked the ball past Demichelis again but was taken out by the Argentinian. Fernandinho and Demichelis started to push Rashford and it was his mate Jesse Lingard who came in to defend his fellow Englishman. On international duty against Slovenia when a player put his hands on Rashford, Lingard bursts in like a big brother to back up his best mate.

Jesse Lingard is just a normal 24-Year-Old who is having fun and living the dreams of millions by playing for the club he loves. When the bus was getting bottled by West Ham United fans it was Lingard who was making fun of them, he was lying of the floor pretending he was crying. After the Crystal Palace game, Jesse Lingard when into Hotel Football and put money behind the bar so fans could have a free drink and he thanked them for how they’ve been this season and spoke to the fans. A Manchester United fan himself who always has time for the fans, an underrated player who deserves more credit than what he gets.
