Kroos and Shaw heading to Old Trafford – reports

Manchester United have been linked with many different players throughout the past few months, with many that were purely mentioned in the same sentence to either sell newspapers, for players to earn a new contract at their current clubs, or to get other clubs interested in the player, which seems to happen when a player is linked to United. However, there are a few names that have continued to be linked with a summer move to Old Trafford with reports over the past few months getting stronger with the players are their agents either saying nothing, or making statements which seem to strengthen the rumours.

Since the sacking of David Moyes in April, and the constant speculation over the identity of the next manager coming into Old Trafford, the reports are coming thick and fast and with the final matches of the season to be played on Sunday, the transfer window in England, Scotland and Wales will open, with the international window opening on the 1st July. Many deals will be done throughout the summer, but with the FIFA World Cup also being held in Brazil this summer, it will make it more difficult for clubs to finalise their business until the middle of July when the tournament has been won and the players or their agents will be able to conclude deals, after a period of rest for the players of course.

Some journalists have already started to suggest some deals have already been concluded with Bob Cass of the Daily Mail suggesting on Twitter earlier today that he has heard that both Toni Kroos of Bayern Munich and Luke Shaw of Southampton, United’s opposition on Sunday, will both be playing at Old Trafford next season. Obviously this is not confirmation and neither can we take it as the truth as anything can happen in football, but in my opinion it is news that United supporters should be excited about. Both players have been consistently linked with a move to Manchester to the point where this speculation is even more believable.

I saw on Facebook and Twitter earlier today that a commentator in Germany, who was working on the Bayern Munich match against Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena, in which the home side 1-0, said that Toni Kroos was playing his final match for Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena ahead of a £35 million move to Manchester United in the summer. I did not hear this myself and neither have I been able to confirm it was actually said, so again it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, but if true it surely is something else to be excited about. Obviously if it was said, or even something similar, it could have been lost in translation.

It is starting to look like the summer that all our prayer are to be answered, but I thought the same last summer. I just hope that United announce Louis van Gaal as the new manager sooner rather than later so the club can try and secure the signings they require before the FIFA World Cup, or as soon as the players international teams have been knocked out of the competition, so they can take their time to recuperate and they arrive at United’s AON Training Complex to complete their moves and meet their new team-mates ahead of pre-season and the 2014/15 season, which United may only be competing for three domestic trophies in their bid to return to the UEFA Champions League from the start 2015/16 season.
