Manchester United’s loan stars were in action again on Easter Monday with the Sky Bet Championship and League One clubs continuing their push for promotion, or to avoid relegation.
Here is how I feel the players fared on Monday afternoon:
Saidy Janko – Bolton Wanderers
Saidy Janko played 66 minutes in the 3-0 victory over Cardiff City in the Sky Bet Championship on Monday afternoon. The Swiss youth international who completed a loan deal with Bolton during the January transfer window, scoring and assisting in his debut helped the Trotters maintain possession with his 85% pass success rate. He did not have a shot on goal from his right-back position, but he played a cross into the area at the end of the first half, which did not reach its man. Janice covered a lot of area on the right, winning one out of three take ons.
Next Match: Norwich City – Sky Bet Championship – Saturday 11th April 2015; KO 15:00
Jesse Lingard – Derby County
Jesse Lingard was an unused substitute in the 2-0 victory over Wigan Athletic in the Sky Bet Championship on Monday afternoon whitewash Derby County move a step forward in earning a play-off place this season. A win was needed and obtained with any other result likely to push the side out of the play-off places. There is still more to do for the side which topped the Championship only a matter of weeks ago.
Next Match: Brentford – Sky Bet Championship – Saturday 11th April 2015; KO 12:15
Reece James – Huddersfield Town
Reece James played 90 minutes in 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town in the Sky Bet Championship on Monday afternoon. James playing as a wing-back once again and it was his passing which let him down, 52% pass success rate. The Manchester United defender created one chance during the match with a 51st minute corner, which amounted to nothing, but the Terriers were still in the lead with no more goals being scored in the remainder of the match. Reece James put eight crosses into the area, five failed, three reached their intended target, with one being the only chance the player created in the match. This performance and the resulting victory will no doubt boost the players confidence for the remainder of the season.
Next Match: Nottingham Forest – Sky Bet Championship – Saturday 11th April 2015; KO 15:00
Will Keane – Sheffield Wednesday
Will Keane was not involved in the 2-0 defeat to Norwich City in the Sky Bet Championship on Monday afternoon.
Next Match: Charlton Athletic – Sky Bet Championship – Saturday 11th April 2015; KO 15:00
Ben Pearson – Barnsley
Ben Pearson played 90 minutes in the 3-1 defeat to relegation threatened Colchester United in the Sky Bet League One on Monday afternoon. It was the second defeat for Barnsley this weekend, which could have meant to much more providing two victories were achieved. Barnsley could have pushed for a play-off place this season, which now seems out of reach with Chesterfield sitting seven points above them in sixth place. Pearson had a shot on goal, which could have put Barnsley 2-1 up inside the 72nd minute, but his attempt was blocked. Colchester scored twice in six minutes to earn their well-deserved victory.
Next Match: Chesterfield – Sky Bet League One – Saturday 11th April 2015; KO 15:00
Sam Johnstone – Preston North End
Sam Johnstone played 90 minutes in the 3-0 victory over Bradford City in the Sky Bet League One on Monday afternoon, which saw the North West club fortify their second placed position in the league going eight points clear over MK Dons, who lie in third place, outside the automatic promotion spot, although MK Dons do have a game in hand over Preston. Johnstone kept his eighth clean sheet for Preston after leaving Doncaster Rovers during the winter transfer window, where he kept four clean sheets earlier this season. Johnstone is progressing as a goalkeeper, and depending on the future of David De Gea, he could play a part for United in the future.
Next Match: Bristol City – Sky Bet League One – Saturday 11th April 2015; KO 15:00
