LOAN WATCH: Lingard makes play-offs with Brighton!

Jesse Lingard

Manchester United’s loan stars were again in action over the weekend in what was a tough final fixture for a few of United’s loanees. Sam Johnstone’s Doncaster Rovers were relegated from the Sky Bet Championship, Federico Macheda’s Birmingham City managed to stay up and Wilfried Zaha’s Cardiff City were confirmed a relegated from the Barclays Premier League after being promoted just a year ago. Jesse Lingard’s Brighton & Hove Albion made the play offs along with Will Keane Queens Park Rangers and Nick Powell’s Wigan Athletic, but the latter did not feature for his loan club this weekend.

Here is how I feel the players fared over the last weekend:

Wilfried Zaha – Cardiff City

Wilfried Zaha played full 90 minutes in the 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United in the Barclays Premier League. He made some brilliant runs for Cardiff but couldn’t do enough to keep Cardiff up but he played well and by far there best player on pitch even though they lost. But he could have scored but hit the post with a brilliant shot from outside the box.

Next Match: Chelsea – Barclays Premier League – Sunday 11th May 2014, KO 15:00

Federico Macheda – Birmingham City

Federico Macheda played 30 minutes in the 2-2 draw with Bolton Wanderers in the Sky Bet Championship. He came on and made an impact and he set up the goal in the 90 minute that kept them up and sent Doncaster Rovers down. He could have scored for Birmingham when he first came on but it was a good save by the Bolton goalkeeper.

Next Match: End of Season

Michael Keane – Blackburn Rovers

Michael Keane played full 90 minutes in the 4-3 win over Wigan Athletic in the Sky Bet Championship. He played well in the last game of the season for Blackburn and the game that they could have got the last play off place but Brighton won and Reading drew. Keane made some brilliant challenges when Wigan attacked and has been vital to Blackburn’s promotion serge towards the end of the season.

Next Match: End of Season

Jesse Lingard – Brighton & Hove Albion

Jesse Lingard played 59 minutes in the 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest in the Sky Bet Championship. He played well up front for Brighton with some brilliant runs from midfield to create and opportunity but he could provide a brilliant performances with a goal but Brighton did beat Reading to the Championship play offs with Reading drawing with Burnley and Brighton scoring a 90 minute goal to win 2-1.

Next Match: Derby County – Sky Bet Championship Play Off – Thursday 8th May 2014, KO 19:45

Davide Petrucci – Charlton Athletic

Davide Petrucci played 25 minutes in the 3-0 win over Blackpool in the Sky Bet Championship. He came on and played well but got given a yellow card for Unsporting Behaviour after Blackpool were given a free kick when it shouldn’t have been also he could have bagged a goal but put it wide from a long-range shot.

Next Match: End of Season

Sam Johnstone – Doncaster Rovers

Sam Johnstone played full 90 minutes in the 1-0 defeat to Leicester City in the Sky Bet Championship. He made some brilliant saves until Leicester City scored in the 75 minute from the penalty spot and then were relegated when Birmingham scored a 90 minute equaliser that sent Doncaster down.

Next Match: End of Season

Will Keane – Queens Park Rangers

Will Keane played 33 minutes in the 3-2 win over Barnsley in the Sky Bet Championship. He had a couple of chances when he came on for the in form Charlie Austin. The United striker could have scored for QPR within a couple of minutes, but hit the post and could have had an assist, which was a pretty lively match for the forward.

Next Match: Wigan Athletic – Sky Bet Championship Play Off – Friday 9th May 2014, KO 19:45

Anderson – Fiorentina

Anderson did not feature in the 3-1 defeat to Napoli in the Coppa Italia.

Angelo Henriquez – Real Zaragoza

Angelo Henriquez did not feature in the 2-1 defeat to Las Palmas this weekend.

Next Match: Córdoba – Liga Adelante – Sunday 11th May 2014, KO 11:00

Bebe – Paços de Ferreira

Bebe played the full 90 minutes in the 0-0 draw with Rio Ave in the Primeira Liga this weekend. The Portuguese winger really did not get into the match, which was a must win for Paços, who are currently at the bottom of the league table facing relegation. Their final match of the season is a must win match, with them also having to reply on other results if they are to stay up this season.

Next Match: Académica – Primeira Liga – Sunday 11th May 2014, KO 16:00
