Manchester United’s loan stars represented their respective teams again this weekend. Ben Amos was ineligible to play for Carlisle United in the FA Cup, which suggests to me that his services may be called upon from January, should Anders Lindegaard leave during the next transfer window. There were a few good results for the loan players this weekend, with only one loanee finding the back of the net so far, which was Davide Petrucci of Royal Antwerp.

Here is how I feel the loan players fared:

Marnick Vermijl – Utrecht 2-0 NEC Nijmegen

Marnick Vermijl started for NEC in a 2-0 away defeat, which keeps them rooted to the bottom of the Eredivisie. Last week the young Belgian scored his first professional goal, which was great for him, but reality hit the site once again, who look sure to find relegation this season. Vermijl is settling in his first team environment, which is helping his development, but nobody like being on a losing team for the majority of the season.

Next Match: Roda JC K – Eredivisie – Saturday 14th December 2013, KO 17:45

Michael Keane – Derby County 5-1 Blackpool

Michael Keane started the 5-1 victory for the Rams on the bench, but replaced Jake Buxton with about 17 minutes remaining. All the goals were scored before Keane made his debut. Blackpool scored within three minutes, but also saw two players sent off. After half time they were a very different side. Keane played well for the amount of time he spent on the pitch, hopefully he will be given more chances during his loan spell. Derby still hold on to fourth place in the Championship.

Next Match: Charlton Athletic - Sky Bet Championship – Saturday 14th December 2013, KO 15:00

Tyler Blackett – Derby County 5-1 Blackpool

Tyler Blackett started in the 5-1 shock defeat away to Derby County at Pride Park. Blackpool scored the first goal after just three minutes, but with the Seasider’s having two players sent off and playing as a different side from the one that started the match, they were never going to get the result they needed. Blackpool are now in seventh place in the Championship.

Next Match: Charlton Athletic - Sky Bet Championship – Saturday 14th December 2013, KO 15:00

Jesse Lingard – Birmingham City 2-2 Middlesbrough

Jesse Lingard started the 2-2 with Middlesbrough at St Andrews and lasted the full match. The United midfielder played well, but failed to get onto the scoresheet again this week. He gave away a free kick on the 51st minute. Birmingham came from behind twice in the match. A 59th minute penalty scored by Paul Caddis and a 90th minute equaliser by Kyle Bartley earned the home side a point. Lee Clark wants to keep Lingard on loan for the remainder of the season, something he will have to work on with United.

Next Match: AFC Bournemouth - Sky Bet Championship – Saturday 14th December 2013, KO 15:00

Federico Macheda – Bolton Wanderers 3-0 Doncaster Rovers

Federico Macheda started for Doncaster Rovers in their 3-0 away defeat to Bolton Wanderers. The Italian striker could do nothing to put his side back in the match after going 2-0 down before the end of the first half. Macheda was replaced by Billy Paynter on the 71st minute of the match. The Rovers are now in twentieth place in the Championship.

Next Match: Leeds United - Sky Bet Championship – Saturday 14th December 2013, KO 15:00

Ryan Tunnicliffe – Ipswich Town 2-1 Huddersfield Town

Ryan Tunnicliffe started for The Tractor Boys in the 2-1 home victory against Huddersfield Town this weekend. The United midfielder played well for his side but did not get onto the score sheet. His development at Ipswich is coming along and he is now a valued member of the first team, playing almost every match since his spell started. Ipswich Town are currently ninth in the Championship.

Next Match: Nottingham Forest - Sky Bet Championship – Saturday 14th December 2013, KO 15:00

Nick Powell – Millwall 2-1 Wigan Athletic

Nick Powell started in Wigan Athletic’s latest defeat, this time 2-1 to Millwall away from home. After the mutual agreement for Owen Coyle to leave the side, they are still struggling, which suggests that it is more of a team problem than management issue. Uwe Rösler has now been installed as manager, so perhaps there will be more stability for Powell and his team-mate Will Keane, who was an unused substitute in the defeat. Powell, the club’s top scorer was replaced by Callum McManaman on the 54th minute of the match. Wigan are still in fourteenth place in the Championship.

Next Match: NK Maribor – UEFA Europa League – Thursday 12th December 2013, KO 18:00

Tom Lawrence – Carlisle United 3-2 Brentford

Tom Lawrence started for Carlisle United in their FA Cup second round victory over Brentford. Lawrence had a shot on goal on the 36th minute of the match, but failed to find the back of the net. He was replaced by Brad Potts on the 64th minute of the match. United team-mate Ben Amos did not play a part in the match and his parent club requested he was not to play in the domestic competition.

Next Match: Tranmere Rovers - Sky Bet League 1 – Saturday 14th December 2013, KO 15:00

Bebe: Pacos de Ferrera 0-3 Estoril

Bebe started for Pacos de Ferrera in their 3-0 defeat to Estoril on Saturday, but failed to take anything from the match. A £7 million signing should be the star player for his loan side, but his form has not been great since he returned from injury. He was replaced on the 64th minute for Paolo Hurtado. Pacos now find themselves at rock bottom of the Primeira Liga, a point behind both Arouca and Olhanense, but both have a better goal difference.

Next Match: Pandurii Târgu Jiu - UEFA Europa League – Thursday 12th December 2013, KO 18:00

Davide Petrucci – Royal Antwerp 3-0 Heist

Davide Petrucci was a substitute in the 3-0 victory over Heist on Saturday. He replaced Emrullah Güvenç on the 83rd minute of the match, scoring the third goal inside the 90th minute. Antwerp are now fifth in the Belgacom League, eight points from the summit. Petrucci has been a sub for a few matches now, so perhaps he was not impressing in training. Maybe his goal and more effort in training will enable him to return to the starting eleven.

Next Match: Geel – Belgacom League – Sunday 15th December 2013, KO 13:00

Angelo Henriquez – Real Zaragoza 2-1 Córdoba

Angelo Henriquez started for Real Zaragoza in their 2-1 victory over Córdoba. Henriquez has been playing regularly over in Spain and although it is not a top league, he will be getting something from playing week in week out in a league which is competitive, unlike the U21 league. I feel Henriquez has a future at United and maybe next season, or the season after he will be able to challenge for a first team space. The Chilean striker played for 77 minutes this evening, and was replaced by Luis Garcia. The winning goal was scored in the 90th minute, meaning Zaragoza won all three points and now sit seventh in the Liga Adelante.

Next Match: Sabadell - Liga Adelante – Saturday 14th December 2013, KO 17:00
