LOAN WATCH: Relegation looms for Macheda's Brum!

Manchester United’s loan stars were in action again on Tuesday evening in matches which could mean everything for their respective clubs this season. Federico Macheda was in action for Birmingham City and Sam Byrne came off the bench for Carlisle United. Davide Petrucci was an unused substitute in Charlton Athletic’s match. Tom Thorpe (injury) and Tyler Blackett did not feature for Birmingham City.

Here is how I feel the players fared:

Federico Macheda – Birmingham City

Federico Macheda played the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic in the Sky Bet Championship. He had a couple of chances to score a vital goal for Birmingham City but couldn’t put it past the Wigan goalkeeper. The United forward had a really good chance with a header from a corner and he hit the inside of the post and bounced out. Things are not looking too good for Birmingham City this season.

Next Match: Bolton Wanderers – Sky Bet Championship – Saturday 3rd May 2014, KO 12:15

Sam Byrne – Carlisle United

Sam Byrne played 22 minutes in the 0-0 draw with Crawley Town in the Sky Bet League One. He was limited to few chances in the match, but he had a brilliant shot late on, but put it past the post. The win was vital for Carlisle United, who are now in a relegation battle now with one match left and a win is a must for them if they want to remain in this division next season.

Next Match: Wolverhampton Wanderers – Sky Bet League One – Saturday 3rd May 2014, KO 15:00
