LOAN WATCH: Zaha plays well for Palace!

Wilfried Zaha

Manchester United’s loan stars were in action for their respective teams again this weekend. Javier Hernandez, Michael Keane and Nick Powell did not feature for their respective sides for various reasons. Luis Nani was unlucky not to bag himself a goal and Wilfried Zaha was also unlucky for another reason. Tom Cleverly’s Aston Villa lost their fifth match in a row, scorning no goals, and Vanja Milinković-Savić made his tenth appearance for his side.

Here is how I feel the players fared this weekend:

Tom Cleverley – Aston Villa

Tom Cleverley played the full 90 minutes in the 2-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers in the Barclays Premier League. Cleverley played quite well, even though they lost had most of the ball and created a lot of opportunities, which were not taken by the team from Birmingham. Cleverley had one great chance towards the end of the game but it was a great save by Hoops keeper Robert Green.

Next Match: Tottenham Hotspur – Barclays Premier League – Sunday 2nd November 2014; KO 16:00

Wilfried Zaha – Crystal Palace

Wilfried Zaha played 64 minutes in the 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion in the Barclays Premier League. Zaha played well in the draw with some brilliant runs that caused a lot of trouble from the West Brom defence. He also should have had a penalty when he was tripped in the box by Andre Wisdom but the referee waved play on. The English winger had one very good chance but couldn’t put it past Ben Foster, who also had a very good game.

Next Match: Sunderland – Barclays Premier League – Monday 3rd November 2014; KO 20:00

Nani – Sporting Lisbon

Nani played 90 minutes in the 4-2 win over Maritimo in the Primeira Liga. Nani played well in the win with a cracking assist and should have really grabbed himself a goal but missed the target, which would have made it 5-2. He was very hard to handle with the brilliant foot work to beat the opposition players and his pace and strength helped his team out a lot.

Next Match: Vitoria Guimaraes – Primeira Liga – Saturday 1st November 2014; KO 18:00

Angelo Henriquez – Dynamo Zagreb

Angelo Henriquez did not feature in Dynamo Zagreb’s 5-0 victory over Osijek in the 1. HNL this weekend, but on Thursday evening he did find the back of the net and assisted in another goal in the 4-2 defeat to Red Bull Salzburg in the UEFA Europa League. Henrique has scored eight goals in nine appearances, which is a great record for the Chilean striker. Perhaps Louis van Gaal is watching his progress with a view to utilising the player next season…

Next Match: Opatija – HR Nogometni Cup – Wednesday 26th October 2014; KO 13:00

Guillermo Varela – Real Madrid ll

Guillermo Varela played the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 win over Huesca in the Segunda B. The Uruguayan played well in the win with a great defensive display and attacked well when needed to. He could have got himself an assist and a goal but could not find a team mate with a cross and also could not beat the keeper. He seems to be doing well in the second division over in Spain. Personally I feel he could have developed himself into a decent defender for United in the future, but I guess some things are not to be.

Next Match: Real Vallecano ll – Segunda B – Saturday 1st November 2014; KO 11:00

Vanja Milinković-Savić – FK Vojvodina

Vanja Milinković-Savić made his tenth first team appearance for FK Vojvodina in their 3-0 victory over Voždovac this weekend. The 17-year-old is proving to be a decent goalkeeper, which is one of the reasons Manchester United purchased the player, loaning him back to his former club for the whole of the season. The experience the Serbian is getting in the first team will get hm ready for next season, when he will pull on the famous jersey of United for the first time. Whether he will be playing in the first team, or in the Academy is yet to be known, but the future certainly looks good for him.

Next Match: Sloboda Užice – Lav Kup – Wednesday 26th October 2014; KO 17:00

Javier Hernandez – Real Madrid

Javier Hernandez did not feature in the 3-1 win over Barcelona in the La Liga.

Next Match: Granada – La Liga – Saturday 1st November 2014; KO 15:00

Nick Powell – Leicester City

Nick Powell did not feature in the 2-0 defeat to Swansea City in the Barclays Premier League.

Next Match: West Bromwich Albion – Barclays Premier League – Saturday 1st November 2014; KO 15:00

Michael Keane – Burnley

Michael Keane did not feature in the 3-1 defeat to Everton in the Barclays Premier League due to injury.

Next Match: Arsenal – Barclays Premier League – Saturday 1st November 2014, KO 15:00
