Three Manchester United loanees were in action for their respective clubs on Sunday; Wilfried Zaha in a relegation scrap with Sunderland in the Barclays Premier League, Marnick Vermijl in action for NEC Nijmegen against FC Twente in the Eredivisie and Angelo Henriquez for Real Zaragoza against relegation bound Girona in the Spanish Segunda Division.
This is how I feel the players fared:
Wilfried Zaha – Cardiff City
Wilfried Zaha played 45 minutes in the 4-0 defeat to Sunderland in the Barclays Premier League. Zaha didn’t really do a lot in the match because Sunderland had the player Advantage since the end of the first half. He tried carving an opening for Cardiff but he couldn’t create an opportunity for his side.
Next Match: Newcastle United – Barclays Premier League – Saturday 3rd May 2014, KO 15:00
Marnick Vermijl – NEC Nijmegen
Marnick Vermijl played 52 minutes in the 5-2 defeat to FC Twente in the Eredivisie. The young United right back had a decent game until he was yellow carded and then he was substituted for Danzell Gravenberch shortly after the bad challenge, but overall he made decent interceptions when FC Twente attacked and he did well on his sides attacking play.
Next Match: Ajax – Eredivisie – Saturday 3rd May 2014, KO 17:45
Angelo Henriquez – Real Zaragoza
Angelo Henriquez played 62 minutes in the 2-0 defeat to Girona in the Segunda Division. He had played well even though they lost but he had many chances to grab another goal or maybe two goals he could have got but couldn’t beat the Girona keeper who was at the top of his game to keep out Henriquez. The Chilean striker was replaced by Javi on the 62nd minute.
Next Match: Las Palmas – Segunda Division – Sunday 4th May 2014, KO 11:00
