Jose Mourinho’s arrival at Manchester United, many people were wondering what signings he will try and bring to the club and we have already got a taste of this with the signing of Eric Baily being completed already. Now the Guardian are reporting that Manchester United are closing in signing both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund respectively.
The article states that Jose Mourinho is very keen to sign both of these players to bolster United’s attacking line-up for the upcoming season. While Dortmund’s chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has stated Dortmund do not want to sell Mkhitaryan to anyone. The article goes on to say that Manchester United will bid £30 million for the Armenian and they are confident that Dortmund will accept the offer as Mkhitaryan only has one year left on his current deal.
There has been no secret that Mkhitaryan would like to join Manchester United, with his agent revealing that Manchester United are his ‘dream club’ and that he is pushing for the move to happen and Mkhitaryan doesn’t want to sign a new deal due to attraction from a range of Premier League clubs such as Arsenal and Manchester United, the latter being his preferred destination.
The Guardian also mention that Ibrahimovic will be offered a one-year contract to the 34-year-old and he is expected to fly to Manchester to finalize the deal in early July. The reliable Sky Sports have said that Ibrahimovic is set to have a medical after the Euros with personal terms already agreed. Sweden has now been knocked out of group E with Ibrahimovic not scoring a single goal. This means we could see the announcement of Ibrahimovic sooner rather than later.
All of this information is also being echoed by Gianluca Di Marzio, his sources are saying that both Ibrahimovic and Mkhitaryan will join Manchester United. The article goes on to say that Ibrahimovic will arrive in Manchester on the 1st of July to secure the deal and undergo a medical, while with Mkhitaryan all personal terms have been agreed but they are just waiting for Dortmund to respond to their €38 million offer, which they are ‘confident’ that Dortmund will accept.
Both are very good players, looking closer at the Mkhitaryan deal, getting a player who has 32 assists and 23 goals in 52 games in the season of 2015/16. for £30 million is incredible. It’s very hard to find a player who can produce statistics like this without paying monstrous fees. This could prove to be excellent business with Mkhitaryan coming into his prime sooner rather than later.
Ibrahimovic also has very impressive stats grabbing an incredible 50 goals and 19 assists in 51 games in the 2015/16 season. Many would argue that this happened in a lesser league but this is completely wrong in my opinion, he still has great ability and it seems as if is in his prime now. Ibrahimovic has claimed this also with him stating he is just ‘getting warmed up’.
Adding the two stats together in a combined 103 games, they would have 73 goals and 51 assists between them. This could completely change up United’s attack. Not to mention other creative and attacking stars Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial , nd Memphis Depay could also be called up. Creativity and goals shouldn’t be a problem this season coming, unlike Louis van Gaal’s last season in charge.
