Manchester United made a third summer signing in Lee Grant

Manchester United have completed their third signing of the summer for former Stoke City goalkeeper Lee Grant making the move to the Theatre of Dreams. The 35-year-old has been signed for an undisclosed fee and will become the third choice goalkeeper, behind both David De Gea and Sergio Romero. The completion of the transfer will likely see Joel Pereira leave the club on loan for the 2018/19 season, allowing the Portuguese international to continue his career and play first team football.

Mourinho has already signed Diogo Dalot from FC Porto and Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk this summer and is still seeking a central defender and a forward to take the pressure off Romelu Lukaku. There has even been speculation linking United to a right-winger this summer, which is a position that has seemingly been ignored during previous summer transfer windows which really needs to be sorted this summer. Grant, speaking to the official Manchester United website about his move to the club, said:

“Moving to Manchester United has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. This was an opportunity that I couldn’t let pass and I’m thrilled to become a part of such a historic club. I’ve enjoyed every moment of my career so far and I’m now ready to continue learning and improving alongside some of the best players in the game. But at the same time, I intend to use my experience to help the team wherever possible.

“I want to say a huge thank you to those close to me who have supported me along my journey so far. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates and giving everything possible for the club in the upcoming season.”
