Manchester United Player Ratings 2015/16 Season

Manchester United started their season in a bit to carry on their success – qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, albeit from the play-off stage after missing out the previous season – also building on their fourth place finish last season. Six new signings were brought into the team with supporters seeing a strong squad heading into the new season. It is safe to say that the season did not pan out as many might have imagined with an exit from the Capital One Cup on penalties at the hands of Middlesbrough – who achieved promotion to the Premier League this season, exiting the UEFA Champions League at the group stages, suffering a poor season in the league which saw the fewest goals scored by the club in recent history, also suffering poor periods before and after Christmas with the club going eight matches without a victory.

United had been playing some poor football too, boring football which was causing discontent throughout social media and beyond. The Emirates FA Cup remains the only positive for the season with the club going all the way to the final at Wembley and winning it – ending twelve years of failure in the oldest domestic competition in the country. The blooding of youth was also something to remember with the likes of Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Donald Love, James Weir and Marcus Rashford being bright sparks during the season – with the latter the brightest. Anthony Martial, a £36 million signing on deadline day – tipped as a ‘waste of money’ was also a bright spark, almost instantly proving his doubters wrong by scoring on his debut – ending the season with 17 goals in all competitions. Here are the players ratings for the entire season – see how well we feel the players did across the season, where they now head into a new season under a new manager – Jose Mourinho.
