Manchester United played Crystal Palace in the second home match of the season. David Moyes has Wayne Rooney back in the side, sporting a kind of scrum cap to protect his healing cut on his forehead. It was a busy first half with three penalty decisions for Jon Moss. Two were not given and rightly so as Patrice Evra and Ashley Young were judged to have dived, which Young being shown a yellow card.

In the final minute of the first half Kagisho Dikgacoi took Ashley Young down inside the box with Moss awarding a penalty to United. Robin van Persie took the penalty, going to his left and putting United in the lead over 10 man Palace. United were again attacking in the second half, Moyes made some changes with Marouane Fellaini replacing Anderson, Adnan Januzaj replacing Ashley Young and Javier Hernandez replacing Robin van Persie.

Wayne Rooney had a free kick on the edge of the box which he put over the wall and curled it into the back of the net. Fellaini had a presence on the pitch after coming on, Januzaj took his chance to impress and Hernandez could have done better, but perhaps a place in the starting XI on Tuesday will help him return to his predatory best.
