PICTURES: Manchester United 2-1 Valencia

Manchester United entertained Valencia at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening in the final pre-season friendly before the start of the new season, which commences on Saturday against Swansea City at Old Trafford. Louis van Gaal was given a welcome at the Theatre of Dreams and ended up winning his final preparation match, despite his side not putting in a great performance, which was something he said at the end of the match. Darren Fletcher scored the first goal at the start of the second half, but Wayne Rooney could have broken the deadlock in the first half with a penalty, which he missed. Valencia equalised late into the second half after Tom Cleverley assisted Rodrigo Moreno on the 71st minute. Marouane Fellaini was the unlikely hero in the match, scoring his first Manchester United goal in front of the Stretford End, winning the match for his team in the dying seconds of the match. Perhaps he will step up this season after a decent FIFA World Cup, who knows. Here are some pictures from tonight’s match.
