Radamel Falcao committed to Manchester United but considering future

On-loan Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao has stated his total commitment to the club, but will decide his best career move at the end of the season.

Falcao has had a difficult season at Old Trafford. He joined United in the summer transfer window on loan from AS Monaco, having just recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that has kept him out of action since January 2014, having to miss the summer’s World Cup in the process. He has since manage to score just four goals this season, and recently has had trouble breaking into the team

Speaking to Colombia’s Radio Carocol, as reported by Sky Sports, Falcao said that he will be looking for a club where he will have match opportunities.

“I think any footballer needs to play and is happy playing. I’m totally committed to the club, there are eight matches to go (in the Premier League) and anything can happen.

“So when the championship ends surely I’ll sit down, do an analysis and decide what’s best for me.

“Obviously I need to find a place where I have continuity and can play.”

Despite his poor run of form throughout the season, Falcao has managed to get consistent playing time at the club, until recently when he had seemingly fallen out of favor. His struggle at the club has gone as far as having to play for the U21 team against Tottenham to keep his match fitness up.

When asked about interest from other Premier League team, Falcao replied that he is aware of interest from other clubs, but also said that he is not paying attention on said interests, choosing instead to focus on matters on the pitch.

“Calls come every day so in that sense I’ve got to stay calm, but I keep on the fringe of them, there are people who deal with all that situation.”

Falcao has also stated that he is confident that things will change for him at the club during the remaining games of the season. He reiterated that he is fully committed to the club and will give everything until the end of his spell.

“I owe myself to Manchester United at the moment. I have faith and hope because lots of things can happen in the number of matches remaining.

“I will continue to fight to the end at Manchester United.”

Falcao is at the club on a temporary basis, meaning at the end of the season he will have to return to parent club Monaco. However, there is a clause in the loan deal that will allow United to sign Falcao on a permanent basis this summer. His performances so far this season have not been a good encouragement for the club to sign him permanently, but if he turns in fine performances between now and the end of the season, the club may reconsider his future.

It is great to hear from the man himself about his commitment to the club. There has been chatter about the way he is treated at the club, including a statement from Falcao’s former agent that the 29-year-old had been reduced to tears by his troubles at the club. In the end, Falcao’s performances will decide whether he stays at the club, or leave to find a new one at the season’s end.
