Ratings: Mitchell the star performer; Bohui, Boonen, Riley and Kehinde playing well as Manchester United keep a clean sheet in Leicester victory

Manchester United beat Leicester City 1-0 in their opening Premier League 2 match of the season. United played well from the off, dominating the match from the early stages. United were unlucky not to get a goal in the first half, heading into the break level at 0-0, but with some impressing performances. United took the lead through Demetri Mitchell following a stunning free-kick in the 62nd minute of the match. After the goal, United continued to get forward with some impressive displays from Indy Boonen, Joe Riley, Tosin Kehinde and Joshua Bohui.

Kieran O’Hara, who clashed early in the second half with Tyrell Warren, both able to continue, pulled off a great save to deny Leicester and equaliser late in the second half. United played well both in attack and defensively, with their backs to the wall in the latter of six minutes added time, securing their first three points of the season. Manager Ricky Sbragia will be pleased with his side, their determination and the way they orchestrated their win.

Mitchell is my Man of the Match for his free-kick winning the game, but also his defensive positioning and ability, not to mention his pace, ability on and off the ball in attack and the way he tried to create space and chances for his teammates.

Goals: Demetri Mitchell 62′

Manchester United: O’Hara; Olosunde, Warren, Williams, Mitchell; Willock, McTominay (Buffonge 90′); Riley, Boonen (Hamilton 87′), Kehinde; Bohui

The right-back did well in the first half, helped get United forward and was key to the clubs domination during most of the first half. Played well in the second half, did more of the same for his club.

39 Scott McTominay

Scott McTominay has played well for United in the first half, had got on the ball throughout but could not get anything through to assist his teammates in creating a chance. Took a knock late in the first half but seemed to be alright. Received another known, hitting the ground with his head. Replaced by Buffonge.

12345

Joe Riley

Had a cross in the first half but did not get involved as much in his first competitive game of the season. Pushed forward in the second half. Some good interplay with Boonen, Kehinde and Bohui, among others.

12345

Indy Boonen

Rising from the U18's will be a big occasion for the talented Belgian and Indy Boonen seems to be settling and getting used to a more competitive game ahead of what could be a glittering career for him. Played well in the second half. Replaced by Hamilton.

Tosin Kehinde

Seemed to play well and was fouled, which did not result in a booking for the Leicester player. Had some good interplay with Mitchell, Bohui and Riley ay times. Bright in attack. Did well. Ricky Sbragia will be keen to see more.

12345

Joshua Bohui

United have a striker at this level for the first time in a season. Threatened well and could have scored a goal or two in the first half. Impressive stuff from Bohui. Led the line well. Unlucky not to bag himself a goal.
