Ratings: Buffonge and Gribbin did well for Manchester United

Manchester United drew 2-2 with  Manchester City today in a nervy encounter. United only had one important player absence today, Belgian starlet Indy Boonen who was injured. As the game went under way, it was City that threatened United first while the young Reds dominated afterward. Constantly going up front, neither of United skippers couldn’t score as Bohui missed two good chances and so did Tahith Chong. Both teams worked very hard defensively and a late minute goal that gave United the lead in the first half was a warning that a thrilling second half was expecting us.

We weren’t disappointed as after a beautiful attack that saw Bohui going down after a challenge on him, United were awarded a penalty. However, Gribbin couldn’t score as his shot went over the bar. A real shame as things may be different if the man in form at United youngsters would have scored. There wasn’t even time to be upset about that missed opportunity as City leveled with Diaz who himself escaped the coverage of the United defence. It was United who responded next with Bohui crossing to Buffonge and DJ didn’t think it twice and put the ball in the net. When United finally thought that they had won this, Foden scored as  Lee O’Connor couldn’t mark with him being injured obligating McKenna to substitute him right away. 2-2 but City wanted to get the winner. Anyway, Sebtaoui denied Nmecha once again to score a late winner.

Another great performance by the young lads who are in the chase of the first place. Can they make it? The chances are good as besides this, the U18s don’t have any tougher fixtures that could ruin that chase for the first place in the Premier League U18.

Manchester United

Ilias Moutha-Sebtaoui

The spot saved him in fifth minute. Besides that has had a good first half, gives United security in the back. Great saves from him early in the second half, keeping United in the lead. Couldn't do anything in both goals he conceded as the defense didn't help him at all. Denied Nmecha to score the winner.

George Tanner

Couldn't find Gribbin in the first half to complete another threat for United. Has made a few good interceptions in the first 45 minutes. Switched sides with O'Connor keeping the amazing work done in the left side today. Had a chance in the early minutes of the second half, testing the City goalie with his right foot shot.

Tyrell Warren

Doing things right, defends well and is always up for a run when preventing the opponent to enter the dangerous area. Disciplined and solid performance in the heart of the defense. Needed to be careful as was booked in the early minutes of the second half. Marked Diaz really bad at the first City goal.

Ro-Shaun Williams

Blocked Bolton in the 39th minute. A couple of good pieces of defending from him today in both halves. Solid performance, growing his confidence and giving United security in the back.

Lee O’Connor

Nailing it on the left-hand side today along with Chong. Kept going forward, helping the team go up front, constantly threatening the opponent. Switched sides with Tanner in the second half, going in the right of the defense. Hardworking. Only mistake of the game gave the chance to City level the game on 2-2.

DJ Buffonge

One of the best players in the pitch for United today. Great goal, constant threat upfront in the first half. We will for sure him for him in the upcoming years. As most of the team, did defensive work as well today.

Callum Whelan

Did a lot of challenges in the first half to keep City away from our half. Booked for a challenge in the last seconds of the first half, deservedly. A bit quiet and careful during the second half due to that card.

Callum Gribbin

You can't get enough of this player. Was decent in the entire first half, building some good attacks for United. Scored in the 45th minute with his weak right foot curling into the corner. Dangerous again in the second, missed the penalty in 70th minute that would have secured United the three points since then.

Angel Gomes

Another great performance by the English talent who was a constant threat upfront. Caught offside a lot today. Quieter than usual though, but still dangerous.

Tahith Chong

Moves well on that left side and goes forward causing danger and creating panic among the the City defence making in it really hard for them to mark him. Kept finding the keeper in the first half. Also, did a few challenges helping the team in defensive terms. Came off injured for Ethan Hamilton.

Joshua Bohui

Had some really good chances in the first 30 minutes of the game. Needs to work with his finishing, however it's always up for a threat in the final third. Still up for the same in the second half, won United the penalty in the second half after a challenge from Sokol who only saw the yellow. Amazing cross from Josh to give United the lead again with Buffonge.

Ethan Hamilton

Came on for an injured Tahith Chong. Played most of the time at the left back. Good performance. Should've done better defensively in that first City goal.

Aidan Barlow

Replaced Gribbin right after he lost the penalty. Didn't have any impact in the game as expected.

Nishan Burkhart

Replaced an injured Lee O'Connor. Didn't have much to do as City was in United area in the last minutes.
