Manchester United made it to the final of the Dale Farm Milk Cup after beating Partick Thistle 4-0. Trialist Ogo Obi got his name on the score sheet before half time after Demetri Mitchell set him up with a great run into the area. Marcus Rashford, who was out injured was not missed as the young Red Devils took control of the match. Scottish side Partick Thistle were just not given a chance by United after Cameron Borthwick-Jackson doubled the lead with a header into the far corner of the net after some confusion in the area.
Mitchell scored his sixth goal of the tournament so far after some great play by Jordan Thompson. The England U17 international breezed through and found the back of the net with ease. Coming to the end of the match Thompson, from Northern Ireland, scored United’s final goal of the match from 25-yards out, which will grow his confidence, especially scoring an important goal in his home country.
Tyrell Warren was shown a yellow card after his slide tackle on the greasy surface of the Coleraine Showgrounds pitch. Paul McGuinness’ side now face Vendee in the final on Friday evening. Vendee, from France, beat the CSKA Moscow at the Riada Stadium. United drew with the Russian side on Wednesday evening, which was the first and only time so far they had not won a match in the tournament. The final will be played at the Ballymena Showgrounds on Friday 1st August at 20:15 BST.
