Rodriguez move depends on Real Madrid signing another player – reports

James Rodriguez will only be allowed to leave Real Madrid this summer if the La Liga and UEFA Champions League holder sign Spain U21 star Dani Ceballos. The Santiago Bernabeu club have seen speculation surrounding many of their players this summer with Alvaro Morata linked to Manchester United and the newspapers speculating over the future of the Colombian, who reportedly will only leave the Bernabeu for a move to Old Trafford but it is not certain that United manager Jose Mourinho is interested in the player. Marca have reported that Rodriguez would be allowed to leave should he be replaced by Ceballos this summer, which is yet to be determined whether the club are actually able to sign the player.

Barcelona also seem to be interested in Ceballos, which will not be an easy victory for Real Madrid. Another thing that stands in the way of Rodriguez’s move away from the Bernabeu is not only finding the interest of another team, but one who will agree to Real Madrid’s demands which are set at €75 million, which is £65 million – a massive fee for a player who wants to leave and is not considered as a player crucial to the squad by manager Zinedine Zidane. I am sure you will see lots of reports about Manchester United missing out on Rodriguez whether he leave the Bernabeu for another team, or even if he remains in Madrid, there will be stories out there depicting United’s failure to sign a player it is not certain they are actually interested in.

Ceballos has a €15 million release clause in his contract, according to the Daily Star and Real Betis would be hoping to sign the player on loan, should he leave the club this summer. Barcelona have already entered the race for the player, which could be difficult for Madrid as the Catalan club will be able to tempt the player with just as much money Madrid offer him, just as many prospects with a massive history too, so it will all be down on the player to make his mind up on a move. Saying that, even if Madrid do sign him, it is not certain that Rodriguez will leave, especially if there is no interest in him from Mourinho or United.

Mourinho is keen to add strength and depth to his team, who will be back in the UEFA Champions League next season, so perhaps that will help show some interest in the Colombian, who three years ago was one of the best up and coming players in the world, losing his momentum at Real Madrid, which is partly down to the management changes over those years, plus the fact the player seems to have an attitude problem, which is not really something Mourinho and United would be interested in this summer. I am sure that in a few weeks time, we will see if United are interested in Rodriguez, which at this moment does not seem too certain. Media reports seem to continually link the player with United, but some close to the club say there is no interest.
