Starting XI: Burscough v Manchester United – U21 Friendly

Manchester United U21’s play their final pre-season match of the summer ahead of the Barclays U21 Premier League, which commences a week on Monday for the champions. United played Stockport County earlier in the week and drew 1-1 with Timothy Fosu-Mensah scoring the equaliser in the second half of the match. Evo-Stik Division One North side Burscough will give United a good test ahead of the season starting. They were recently beaten 3-1 by Everton earlier in the summer, but they performed well against the Premier League club’s U21 side. United have been utilising a trialist, Paul Digby, during their last two matches, but he will be ineligible to face Burscough, which may see a makeshift defence for Warren Joyce’s side.

Manchester United:

O’Hara;

Varela, Love, Fosu-Mensah, Borthwick-Jackson;

Weir, Grimshaw, Willock;

Riley, Fletcher, Mitchell

Substitutes:

Henderson, J. Pereira, El-Fitouri, Redmond, Harrop
