United & Arsenal in £45 million battle over Barca star

Barcelona will sell Cesc Fabregas this summer according to reports by Spanish newspaper Marca.

It is claimed that Barca are offering the player to both Manchester United and Arsenal in the hope to secure a big offer for the Spanish playmaker, knowing that both clubs will be keen to secure the signing of the talented 27-year-old.

Although Fabregas has boyhood ties with Arsenal, Manchester United will be quietly confident given todays unveiling of Louis Van Gaal as their new manager as well as having more financial muscle than Arsenal in the market.

Barca endured a disappointing season, picking up no silverware, which lead to the sacking of manager Gerardo Martino. This factor, along with financial restraints sanctioned to the club due to tax avoidance investigations has meant that they will seek to offload players that they deem surplus to requirements.

Furthermore key player Andres Iniesta expects to see many more changes at the club this summer, He said:

“We were relying on winning this game. We haven’t and that makes this season disappointing, because if we had won, everything would be different.

“The season is over, lots of things are over.”

Suggesting a clear out of players such as Fabregas who despite obvious quality, have fallen under criticism of the fans this season for lack lustre displays.

Whatever the case, Manchester United will be keen to strengthen their midfield this summer, with Fabregas a favourite to join the club.
