Van Persie & Januzaj targets for Bayern Munich?

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie and attacking midfielder Adnan Januzaj are targets for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich this summer according to reports. The Daily Star (yes, that credible newspaper) report that Mario Mandžukić could leave the German giants this summer after president Franz Beckenbauer stated months ago that “Mandžukić could pack his bags”. One thing the British newspaper did not mention was that Pep Guardiola’s side had already secured the signing of free agent Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund this summer. But newspapers wanting to proliferate their ‘reports’ and help the sales of their product, means that these ‘rumours’ will just continue throughout the summer.

Now one thing for certain here is that Robin van Persie was an unhappy player this season. It was apparent that there was something between him and David Moyes and the injuries he has suffered from did not help either, but he seems to be over that now Moyes has departed the club and Ryan Giggs is the interim manager, with Louis van Gaal expected to be named the next United manager on Monday, after the final matches of the Barclays Premier League have been played and the title has been won by either Manchester City or Liverpool, which Chelsea out of it after City beat Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.

Van Persie currently plays for the Netherlands under Van Gaal, and he seems to get on with the veteran manager very well, meaning he would not turn his back on the Old Trafford club to play for Guardiola. For this reason I see this rumour as pure speculation with little fact, it must have been a slow news day.

Adnan Januzaj being the other target for Bayern Munich, everyone wants the Belgian-born attacking midfielder and with his progress at United this season, it has all of the clubs supporters mouths watering as he brings excitement to the team, just like Cristiano Ronaldo did some ten years ago. I do feel that Januzaj plays his football in a much more mature way to the Portuguese winger, he’s less cocky and does not show off as much, which suggests he is more determined to prove himself, which is a good sign. The reports linking Januzaj to Bayern Munich have come from Football Direct News, the new name of Sports Direct News, who admitted that they did fabricate a report linking Wayne Rooney to Newcastle United and another linking Daniel Sturridge with a move back to Chelsea, so you can see where I am going here, can’t you?

Now Januzaj turned down a large sum of money on offer from Paris St Germain before he signed his new deal with United. He has also stated that he would like to play for United for the rest of his career, so I am sure he would leave less than a year after signing his new contract to play in Germany. The transfer window has not even opened yet and it is already silly season, so brace yourself for the rest of the ‘rumours’ that will be heading to your in boxes between now and September. I really cannot see Van Persie or Januzaj leaving the club, both still have work to do and trophies to win and next season, after United have paid some attention to their squad, we will be back. Have fun reading the rumours during the summer, as from these two sources, that is all they will be.
