Adam spoke to us after Manchester United 1-0 Manchester City and questions why the media won’t pick up on City’s current state. Have your say, comment below!

Manchester United are into the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup following a 1-0 victory over rivals Manchester City. Juan Mata scored the only goal of the game early in the second half in a game that lacked the sharpness of a Premier League contest. United have been handed a home tie against West Ham United in the last eight.

The visitors should have been ahead in the opening couple of minutes in a first-half that offered very little in the way of chances. Jesus Navas produced a fine cross onto the head of Kelechi Iheanacho who somehow headed into the Stretford End when it looked easier to score. United grew into the game as the half wore on but failed to create anything of note.

Mourinho’s men started the second half the brighter as Paul Pogba’s left-footed effort crashed against the upright in the opening five minutes of the restart, however, the home side were ahead not long after. Juan Mata slotting the ball into the net following good work from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ander Herrera. City brought on their big guns – Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero – to try and salvage something as the game wore on however David De Gea was rarely tested. The home side held on as they progressed into the quarter-finals at their rivals expense.
