VIDEO: Why No Mkhitaryan!? | Manchester United 1-1 West Ham | FANCAM

John & Omario spoke to us after Manchester United 1-1 West Ham and wonder, like many of us, why Mkhitaryan didn’t start today! Have your say, comment below!

Manchester United was held to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against West Ham after failing to fully recover from an early goal from Diafra Sakho. Scoring in the second minute after an error from Jesse Lingard and United’s defenders, United was quickly pushed onto the back foot, but they recovered with a goal from Zlatan Ibrahimovic. That being said, United failed to further capitalize and win the match afterward, missing a few key chances and being denied by a superb performance from Darren Randolph, West Ham’s backup goalkeeper. United will rue the missed chances.

That being said, Mourinho’s decisions need to be questioned. While his sending off was a complete disgrace from the officiating team (again), he made poor decisions before the match that could have been better. Firstly, Michael Carrick did not have to play 90 minutes on Thursday and could have played today, at least long enough, because everyone knows how important the Englishman is. Secondly, Marcus Rashford is not a winger, and Anthony Martial didn’t play on Thursday, meaning he could have done so today. Henrikh Mkhitaryan was benched in favour of the relatively useless Jesse Lingard, who played one of his worst games this season. Reluctant to give a chance to Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who has done nothing wrong, Mourinho played the likes of Phil Jones and Antonio Valencia twice in four days, and both looked impacted by the decision.

Mourinho’s decision to persist with the same players has not allowed potential solutions to United’s woes to step forward. Morgan Schneiderlin, a solid midfielder, could play in defensive midfield, but he has not played any matches despite being fit. The aforementioned Fosu-Mensah is joined by Joe Riley and Axel Tuanzebe, neither of whom have been given chances ahead of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo, who, along with Chris Smalling, should be fighting for their futures at the club. Memphis has not played a minute despite the fact Rashford is being played ahead of him and out of position. If Mourinho wants the solution to a consistent winning formula, it is time to take action and realize the players that are preventing him from finding the answer and testing other players who could.
