Confirmed Starting XI: Rashford, Lukaku, and Martial lead the line against Chelsea

Manchester United take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League this afternoon. United’s start to the season has been less than impressive but in the last match, against Newcastle United at Old Trafford, from 2-0 down at half time, United managed to orchestrate a good 45 minutes, winning the game 3-2 with goals from Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, and Alexis Sanchez.

The form at Stamford Bridge has not been the best though, winning once in the last ten meetings at the stadium, which was back in 2012. United currently sit eighth in the Premier League, seven points off the summit, which is shared by Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool respectively, all on 20 points with goal difference splitting them up. United may be a long way out at this stage, but a win against Chelsea would see them claw back some much-needed points and back on their way towards the summit.

Manchester United:

De Gea;

Young, Lindelof, Smalling, Shaw;

Mata, Matic, Pogba;

Rashford, Lukaku, Martial

Substitutes:

Romero; Bailly, Darmian; Pereira, Fred, Herrera; Sanchez

United and Chelsea have played 180 matches in the history of both clubs, the first being played on Christmas Day in 1925 – 1 0-0 draw. United have won 77 times, drawn 49 times and lost 54 times, five times in the last ten matches, home and away in all competitions. Last season, United lost 1-0 in this fixture but won 2-1 at Old Trafford, also losing the Emirates FA Cup final 1-0 at the end of last season. Jose Mourinho has not beaten Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as the United manager. Could today be that first victory?
