Manchester United to end interest in Ivan Perisic?

Manchester United may end their interest in Inter Milan’s Croatian winger Ivan Perisic this summer if the Italian club continues to demand £50 million for him this summer. For about a month United have been trying to sign the player who seems set on a move to the Theatre of Dreams. Inter Milan need to match Financial Fair Play regulations before the end of the month needing €30 million to balance the books in line with them breaching the regulations two years ago. United were thought to be in a commanding situation in matching their valuation of the player with the amount Inter needed before the end of the month but the Serie A club has held firm, so far at least.

Friday is the day that they need to balance the books and time could well be running out for the team in the need of money, which could see them buckle under the pressure and allow the Croatian to leave for United with the fee being amicably agreed. That would be the ideal scenario in this situation but realistically United could lean towards another target this summer. The Sun reporting some new in Italy from Mediaset Premium suggest that United are ready to leave Perisic at Inter and tempt Fiorentina winger Federico Bernardeschi instead. The report suggests that the Old Trafford club could offer the Italian club £40 million, which would be cheaper than the Croatian, signing a player younger with a good future ahead of him.

United would have a lot of legwork to do in a bid to lure Bernardeschi to the Theatre of Dreams with Serie A champions Juventus the favourites to sign the player this summer. The 23-year-old may be better business for United over signing a 28-year-old for an extortionate fee, despite the fact he is a player who would offer something to Jose Mourinho and his squad next season. United are looking for players who will help polish the team Mourinho has already started to build, with a core already in the team with pace, creativity and goals needed to challenge for the Premier League title next season. Chelsea have also been linked with Bernardeschi and Fiorentina would prefer to sell the player to a foreign club, rather than strengthening Juventus.

Last season Bernardeschi scored 16 goals for both club and country in all competitions. United are said to be losing patience with Inter over Perisic feeling that his fee is set too high with the fallen Italian side looking to reel in the cash ahead of an important summer. Inter are thought to think they are in the driving seat with United wanting to conclude their transfer business early in July, but United seem to be in a much better position being that Inter needs €30 million in the bank by the end of the week to meet FFP regulations. United supporters seemed unhappy at the reports of Perisic being linked to the club earlier in the summer because of his age. I wonder what they would make of the Bernardeschi reports the player being younger with a bigger future ahead of him?
