Paul Pogba is happy in Manchester and wants Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to get the Manchester United managers job

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has spoken about another football club and it has sent some supporters into a frenzy. Granted, there has been much speculation surrounding the Frenchman over the past year or so with some rumours stating that the player could opt to leave United. However, that was whilst Jose Mourinho was the manager and things could well have changed.

Personally, I don’t like it when players of a club praise another club. It suggests that the particular player is not happy and is flirting with a club he would like to play for. Florentin Pogba has previously spoken about his brother, suggesting that clubs like Manchester City, Real Madrid or even United’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final opponents Barcelona could give Pogba a sense of growth in the game.

Pogba sensationally made his return to United four years after he left the club as a free agent, although because of his age, compensation was paid. He left Juventus of an £89 million fee, which was a world record at the time. Criticism followed his transfer, which does not seem to have dissipated much in the near three years the Frenchman has been back at United. Maybe it never will.

Speaking to the press ahead of France’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Moldova on Friday, reported by Sky Sports, Pogba spoke about Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane and how happy he was in Manchester:

Like I’ve always said, Real Madrid is a dream for anyone. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“There is also [Zinedine] Zidane as a coach and it’s a dream for anybody who likes football.

“For now, I’m at Manchester. We don’t know what the future holds. I’m at Manchester and I’m happy.”

To add to the comment about him being happy at United, Pogba also stated that he feels Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be given the permanent managers job at the club after reinstilling confidence in the team during the past few months. It has been well documented that the players are happy, the supporters are happy and the coaches are happy. Solskjaer has started to bring back the feeling that left with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Speaking about Solskjaer getting the job permanently this summer, Pogba, reported by Sky Sports, talked about the great results the club has had, the relationship the players have with the Norwegian and how the happiness has returned to the club after many years of it not really being present, even before Pogba returned.

“Of course we want him to stay. The results have been great. I have a great relationship with him, he has a great relationship with the players.

“When a player is happy, he wants to keep being happy. Solskjaer deserves it. He knows the club, he knows everything about the club.

“He is a really happy coach that gave confidence back to the players.

“This gave us the freedom to play and enjoy football again because maybe we lost that with the results that we had before.”

Too many people react to things negatively when any player speaks to the media. Of course, some media platforms negate parts of the quotes, like Goal did in their tweet, which will only cause supporters to become angry about the quotes. These media companies are pathetic is it is a form of attention seeking, especially cutting off the important final sentence of a quote, which is what they did.

In his comments, Pogba also spoke about the squad losing confidence under Mourinho and that there was a lot of talking going on, which is something the players were not used to. Mourinho has left the club now and seems happy that he has gone, as do most of the players. The fact remains that United are a much better team in the few months that have passed, compared to what they were under Mourinho.

“Maybe we lost confidence, maybe things went wrong. A lot of talking outside that we weren’t used to.

“I don’t like to talk about the past. I like to talk about the future because that’s what matters.

“We are better now and the results have been brilliant. We are back in the top four.”

Does it sound like Pogba is unhappy at United? Not really. Does it sound like he wants to move to Real Madrid? He’s not actually said that. Does it sound like the player is looking to leave United in the next year or so? Who knows. However, right now, Pogba is a United player, whether that lasts beyond his current contract depends on Ed Woodward, Pogba himself and Mino Raiola. Lets get behind this team and finish on a high!
