Manchester United linked to 30-year-old Argentinian midfielder who has £10 million release clause next month – reports

Paulo Dybala has been linked to United in the past but this summer they should steer clear!

Manchester United are interested in signing AS Roma attacking midfielder Paulo Dybala this summer, according to reports. Roma are yet to offer the Argentinian a new contract this summer with his £10 million release clause coming into effect next week.

The 30-year-old does not fit the requirements for transfers which has seemingly been set by Sir Jim Ratcliffe earlier in the summer with the player of a Galactico profile, over the age of 25 and the huge wage the player will demand should Old Trafford be a destination for the player.

This rumour seems to come around every time Dybala wants a new contract. Flirting with Manchester United to get a new lucrative contract seems to be the norm in modern football. You never see these links with Manchester City – maybe 115 reasons for that not to happen?

Dybala has been touted as a magnificent player in his time but I just don’t see it. He scored 16 goals and 10 assists in 39 appearances for Roma during the 2023/24 season but is unproven in the Premier League. At his age, he could massively flop in the highly-competitive league.

The Argentina international has played for Palermo, Juventus and Roma in Italy and is yet to be tested in another country other than Argentina. He has scored 189 goals and 82 assists in 482 appearances at senior level for four clubs – which is a decent result for an attacking player.

However, having been linked to United every year or two, if he had wanted to play for United – and United had wanted him, he would already be playing at the Theatre of Dreams. This seems to be a spurious link by the media, maybe a leak from his agent – to create a fake demand for the player.

This could see Roma offer the 30-year-old a new contract this summer, taking the £10 million release clause away from the contract, allowing the player to reap in the cash in Italy before eventually calling it a day in football. United should not be pursuing Dybala this summer.

At the end of the day, that is my personal opinion and I feel that he would not bring anything to the club, especially in the fact that United have spent big money in the past on high-level players and never been rewarded for it. United need to try a different route to get the best young players now.

I support Manchester United, the greatest English football team to have ever existed. Bruno Fernandes is the latest in a long line of players with great ability to play for the club. I idolised Bryan Robson, David Beckham, Paul Scholes, and Eric Cantona growing up.
