Manchester United are reportedly in talks with the representatives of Joshua Zirkzee. The 23-year-old has a £34 million release clause if he is to leave Bologna this summer, which seems seemingly likely. It is suggested that Zirkzee is one of United’s primary targets this summer.
United require a new striker this summer after the departure of Anthony Martial this summer so they can rival Rasmus Hojlund in attack for the club, or even striker a partnership with the Danish striker. United also require work in other positions in the squad, which could happen too.

Zirkzee would add quality to the forward line for United and to become a better option that Martial in the coming season, he would just need to stay fit which is something the Frenchman struggled with – whether it was an excuse for him not to play or not.
The Dutchman was called up for the Netherlands Euro 2024 squad late, just before the tournament started but has not made an appearance yet after his country beat Poland 2-1 and drew 0-0 with France. The Netherlands are due to face Austria on Tuesday evening.

Arsenal were said to be a destination for Zirkzee this summer after the club missed out on Benjamin Sesko, who will remain at RB Leipzig after renewing his contract with the club. United were also said to have interest in Sesko, but that seems to be for another summer window in the future.
Zirkzee has a buyout clause attached to his current contract of €40 million, which is around £34 million. His contract at Bologna expires in the summer of 2026. AC Milan were prepared to activate Zirkzee’s release clause but there are problems with other aspects of the proposed transfer.

Kirklees agent Kia Joorabchian is reported to demand a £12.6 million commission fee from Milan for his player to sign for the club, which is likely to be demanded should United activate the release clause too – but United could pay the fee whereas Milan has declined so far – reportedly.
Zirkzee is rumoured to be worth £50 million, so even with the commission fee applied, United would still be signing the player for less that his rumoured value, which could increase should he start performing at United. He scored 12 goals and seven assists for Bologna last season.
