Manchester United open their Premier League season by facing Hull City at the MK Stadium today. Michael Carrick has readied his squad for the new season which will be much busier than last season with United playing in the UEFA Champions League once again. United has a largely positive pre-season too, which is a good thing and the summer transfer business conducted by the club has filled a few holes.
However, there is more to do in that respect with United looking to sign another midfielder, a left-back and possibly even a backup striker to add support to Benjamin Sesko, should Joshua Zirkzee Leave the club this summer. United should be more set up for the season by the time the summer transfer window closes at 23:00 BST on Tuesday 1st September 2026. But first, United must start well by beating Hull City.

It is imperative that United get a good start in the Premier League this season but Hull will be thinking the same thing. Coming up from the Championship will mean they will need to get early points on the board in order to try and stay in the English top flight. They will have time to get things going in the right direction but with United’s performance against AC Milan, it could mean that Hull take advantage of United.
Carrick will need to set up his team to avoid any problems against Hull. The new signings in the team, added to the players that arrived at the club last summer will help United immensely but the players on the pitch and the substitutes will need to ensure they can press Hull and push for a victory. After United’s positive pre-season and the fact the clubs transfer business is not yet done, United should prosper this season.
