Axel Tuanzebe wanted by Turkish side Besiktas but defender wants to fight for his place at Manchester United – reports

Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe is wanted on a season long loan spell by Turkish side Besiktas ahead of the summer transfer window opening. However, it is stated that the player would rather remain at United, fighting for his place at the club next season after spells on loan with Aston Villa inn recent seasons.

The 22-year-old has been used sparingly by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, making a total of ten appearances for the club. However, the player has suffered two serious injuries this season, having a hip problem which saw him missing seven matches and a hamstring problem, missing 17 matches. If he was fit, he would have played more.

Turkish journalist Ertan Suzgun has suggested that Besiktas have identified the United academy graduate as a player that could strengthen the clubs defence next season, which is all well and good as he is a player that could do the same for United, if the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo are sold by the club this summer.

Tuanzebe previously has loan spells away from United with Aston Villa, who are the time were in the Championship. He started with a six-month spell away from the club during the 2017/18 season, spending the 2018/19 season at the club, helping Villa win the play-off final and promotion to the Premier League, where they are relegation candidates this season.

This season, United have most of the time used Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof in the centre of the defence, but this has not been down to anything else other than a lack of players to choose from in rotation. Eric Bailly has suffered injury problems, Phil Jones is Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo has been at Estudianies since January.

If both Bailly and Tuanzebe had been fit, they would have had more minutes on the pitch at the club, meaning United would not have had to be so reliant on the likes of Lindelof and Maguire. If United sell Rojo, Smalling and/or Jones this summer, it could create more playing time for Bailly and Tuanzebe, which would be a good thing for both players.

Tuanzebe might, at some point in the future, if things are still the same at United, be forced to look elsewhere to be a regular starter in the team by at 22, he must know that it is not time to call an end to his United career. Showing patience as he will see the dilemma that manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will face, especially after continuing to clear the deadwood.

Rojo, Smalling and Jones are three players who have been at the club for some time, the Argentinian since 2014, Smalling since 2010 and Jones since 2011 – all three players have seemingly failed to be the clubs main starters in the past five years or so, despite the experience they all have as all three were full internationals.

Tuanzebe will be wise to look ahead into the future at what is likely to happen at the club. Rumours suggest United are seeing to sign a new defender, which cannot happen until the summer, so there is some likelihood that one, two or three players could be sold. Tuanzebe, if fit will have the remainder of the season to play himself into the managers plans for the future, which he is capable of doing.

Manchester United linked with £35.5 million move for Anderson Talisca, again!

Manchester United are reportedly ready to make a £35.5 million move for Benfica star Anderson Talisca. The Brazilian was linked to United in the summer but a two-year loan with Turkish side Besiktas ended the speculation with quotes from the hierarchy at the club. The move, being touted ahead of the summer transfer window has been speculated by Portuguese newspaper A Bola, which has been carried by The Sun in the United Kingdom.

This season in Turkey, Talisca has played a total of 36 times for his club, 30 starts, plus six substitute appearances, scoring 16 goals, offering three assists also. The Brazilian averages 3.4 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game. On average in the matches WhoScored have been able to rate him for, his average rating is 7.18, which is not bad for a player of his age but he is playing in a league which is deemed less competitive compared to any of the top five leagues in Europe.

The 24-year-old is an attacking midfielder but is a central player. United really need a player to come in on the right side of the wing which is their weakest point in attack right now. Centrally, there are many players, including Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba and even Alexis Sanchez – although it is questionable whether both Pogba and Sanchez can play in the same team and formation together. Jose Mourinho has been long linked with Talisca though, so whether the interest is true or not, remains to be seen.

It is stated in the Independent today that Mourinho is seeking four major signings in the summer which could see as many as seven first team players leave the club. It is suggested that Mourinho will be looking for a central defensive partner for Eric Bailly and a controlling midfielder, which will cover half of the four key players the Portuguese manager is seeking to sign. Could Talisca be one of those four key players? I am not so sure. He is experienced in the Turkish league but a move to the Premier League will be a big leap for him.

Turkish newspaper Miliyet have reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers, seeking promotion to the Premier League this season, are in the running for Talisca. I would believe that link as it would be less of a gamble for the Brazilian. I know he would still be playing in the Premier League, but he will be under less pressure to succeed at Wolves then he would be under at Manchester United. Looking at recent players who have made the jump from a lesser league, Memphis Depay for instance, it just did not work at United for him.

The Sun report states that Jorge Mendes is Talisca’s agent too, which is not correct and possibly where the link to Wolves comes from, being that Mendes is connected to the Championship club in the form of an advisor. Transfermarkt states that Talisca’s agent is actually Carlos Leite, of Carlos Leite Sports which is not the company Mendes represents, Gestifute. Perhaps The Sun just need to get stories out with as little fact as possible, which now suggests that the link is nothing other than speculation.

Brazilian midfielder reiterates desire to work with Jose Mourinho

Benfica midfielder Anderson Talisca has once again reiterated his desire to work with Jose Mourinho also ending speculation with him comments which merely confirm that Manchester United have not come calling for the player. Over the past few weeks, there was speculation that United had been in advanced talks with the attacking player who was on loan with Turkish side Besiktas last season and has a deal to remain at the club for the upcoming season. Reports originally from Turkey seemed to get Besiktas to react by moaning about United, despite it being media speculation. Talisca will remain at Besiktas this coming season which was something which was suggested by the Turkish club.

The 23-year-old caught the eye last season by scoring 17 goals in 33 appearances in the Süper Lig and it has been reported that the player could make a permanent move from Benfica this summer with a fee of around £15 million, which seems a bit cheap for a talented player leaving the Portuguese club. Talisca has spoken to Futbolarena reiterating his desire to work with Mourinho which other players have said in the past, not actually working with him. The player did say that everyone would know if he had received an offer from Mourinho or United, which does not seem the be the case in this instance. The player said:

“I have a lot of respect for Jose Mourinho, he is an amazing manager and I have always said I would love to work with Mourinho. I do not want to get into this debate about an offer being made or not; let’s just say if I were to receive that kind of offer you would all know about it.”

Talisca joined Benfica for just £4.15 million in 2014 and has experience playing in both the Portuguese and Turkish leagues as well as playing in the UEFA Champions League with both clubs, which could be a deciding factor by any club who wants to acquire him this summer, if he does not actually play for Besiktas on loan into next season, which seems to be the agreement the Turkish giants feel they have at this present time. Besiktas official Metin Albayrak claimed last month that the club would need to be informed of any potential deal involving Talisca with that not happening so Albayrak suggested the speculation was merely that, something the player seems to have confirmed himself with his own comments. Speaking to Turkish-Football, Albayrak said:

“We have to be informed of any transfers, it cannot go ahead without us at the table, we have not been informed of a Man United deal.”

Manchester United still take other players to be linked to this summer, which is surprising as since early April names have been thrown out in the media suggesting a deal with the Old Trafford club was coming, which seeming is not. United are said to be moving on with a deal to sign Alvaro Morata, which seems to be taking a lot of time, despite the player still being on his honeymoon. Ivan Perisic is another player on the list of Mourinho’s targets, but Inter Milan want £48 million for the player, which for a 28-year-old seems a lot. Nemanja Matic is another player tipped to move north to Old Trafford, but Chelsea are understood to want to sign a replacement first with AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko tipped to arrive in the capital.
