Marcus Rashford is not 100% safe at Manchester United this summer – four clubs could be interested in signing him

Rashford has not been as consistent at United as some may make out

Manchester United are reportedly willing to sell Marcus Rashford this summer after it was revealed that the club have just seven players who are untouchable this summer; Andre Onana, Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund.

Rashford has a lacklustre 2023/24 season having scored eight goals and five assists in 43 appearances for United, which was a massive decline following his 30 goals and ten assists in 56 appearances the season before. Could it now be the decline of Rashford?

Rashford saw his place in the England squad for Euro 2024 disappear before his eyes after the season he had, which has kind of backfired on Gareth Southgate because this England team have gone back to playing negative football which is rather mundane.

The 26-year-old signed a new contract back in 2023 which would keep him at the club until the summer of 2026 – which gives United the option to set a high transfer fee for the academy graduate. Over the last eight years of first team football, Rashford has not been consistent at all.

Some may be irked by that suggestion, but looking back it has been true. Even during the 2022/23 season when he scored 30 goals – his best ever season – he was terrible in front of goal at times so he is not up there with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of modern greats in football.

It is reported that Rashford is keen to stay at United and wants to fight for his place but a fresh start could be just what he needs to find his feet once again. Rashford is a high earner at United and personally, I don’t see why he should be. He could have four options for pastures new.

Paris Saint-Germain could be an option as the club have been interested in signing him before – he could even replace Kylian Mbappe who signed for Real Madrid this summer as a free agent. Arsenal have also been linked to Rashford but he could become a ‘Danny Welbeck’ type of figure there.

Tottenham Hotspur have also bee credited with interest in Rashford, although those reports come from Spain, which seem to be strange. Bayern Munich are another option for Rashford to replace Leroy Sane linking up with Harry Kane and new manager Vincent Kompany.

I support Manchester United, the greatest English football team to have ever existed. Bruno Fernandes is the latest in a long line of players with great ability to play for the club. I idolised Bryan Robson, David Beckham, Paul Scholes, and Eric Cantona growing up.
